The Presonus ADL (Anthony DeMaria Labs) 600... My Thoughts.
The Two Channel High Voltage Microphone Preamplifier is a Three Vacuum Tubes Per Channel with Rich Three-Dimensional, Vintage, Tube-Brilliant Tone and Warm, Smooth, Clear Sound.

First Off… Anything that Anthony DeMaria Creates is Worth Investigating When the Guy Custom Designs $20K Fairchild 670 Style Compressor Replicas. I Was Recently in the Market for a High-End Mic Preamp and Was Considering an Avalon VT-737sp. I Was A Bit Leery as I Had a Few Bad Experiences with Recording Studios Who Either Did Not Know How to Use The 737sp or Did Not Have the Signal Chain Setup Properly. Also, In Those Instances The 737sp Sounded A Bit Brittle and Harsh; Somewhat Unmusical. I Decided to Look Into Other Options.

After a Number of Weeks of Research, I’d Decided on a Couple of Mic Preamps, But Thought I’d Try Out The Presonus ADL 600 for Starters. I Was A Bit Hesitant at First as, In the Past, Presonus Audio Interfaces Were Not the Greatest. The Reviews I’d Read Online Sounded Good Enough to Investigate Further.

I First Tested the ADL 600 With The Akai MPC4000. After Allowing the Preamp to Warm Up for About 45 Minutes, I Connected to It Using the Line Inputs and Was Completely Floored... WOW! I Moved on to Testing Instrument Input 1 with an Ibanez Bass... One of the Higher Series, Active Pick Up Bass Guitars. I Was Floored Once Again!! The Ibanez Had a Round, Three-Dimensional, Unbelievably Buttery, Warm Tone to It. Did I Say Three-Dimensional?!?! Next, I Tested Instrument Input 2 with a Fender Telecaster. Again... Just... WOW!! I Tested Mic Input 1 and 2 and Got Clean Warm Vocal Takes. No Distortion, No Harshness, No Brittle Sounding Top End. Again, I Could Not Believe What I Heard! By Far One of the Best Versatile Mic Preamplifiers I Have Ever Heard. In My Opinion, It Sounds Better Than The 737sp. I Will Eventually Get a 737sp, But, As of Now, The ADL 600 Will be My Go-To Preamp for Everything.

I Can’t Believe Presonus Created A Product that has Such Organic Analog Character and Detail. Plus, They’re Up the Street From My Home Town, Baton Rouge.
